COLUMBIA CITY - Vicky R. Shoda, 86, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025.
Born on May 20, 1939, in New Albany, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Geneva (Beyl) Leach.
Vicky graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1957.
In late spring 1957, she was set up on a date by a mutual friend. This gentleman, Bob Shoda, was the love of her life. On Jan. 5, 1958, Vicky married Robert "Bob" Shoda. She and Bob soon started a family and made their home in Whitley County.
She and Bob took pleasure in traveling. They took trips to Asia, Europe and South America. One of her favorite trips was to Alaska.
She was an avid reader, and took pleasure in word games, sudoku, and mahjong. She liked to sew and build bird houses. Vicky was passionate about her flower garden and looked forward each spring for the blooms to start. Her greatest happiness came from her love of her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They always brought a smile to her face.
Vicky is survived by her children, Rob (Darla) Shoda, Todd (Kelly) Shoda and Kristy (Mike) Vodde; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Margarete) Leach; and sister-in-law, Anita Leach.
Along with her parents, Vicky was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Shoda; son, Charles "Chuck" Lewis Shoda; an infant grandson, Jonathan Dakota Whitehead; and brothers, Robert and Andrew Leach.
Private family services will take place.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Vicky, to Riley Hospital for Children or American Cancer Society.
