HAMILTON - Wanda Lea Crowl, 64, of rural Hamilton, Indiana, departed to her heavenly body on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at her home in rural Hamilton.
Wanda bravely fought a courageous three-year battle with cancer that finally took its toll.
Wanda was born on Sept. 19, 1960, in Auburn, Indiana, to Gerald J. and Nadean (Riggs) Nicholas.
She was a graduate of DeKalb High School Class of 1978. She attended IPFW for three years.
She was a Godly servant, seeing what needed to be done at church or for others, often without notice or even recognition.
Wanda and Keith enjoyed many cruises and trips to Mexico and the Caribbean, basking in the sun and the time away together.
In Wanda's early years, she enjoyed decorating cakes, from birthday cakes to wedding cakes, making many occasions special.
She faithfully served Crossroads of Zion as a member and served as church pianist. Wanda also played piano for the Steuben County Gideons Pastor's Banquet as an auxiliary member.
She married Keith E. Crowl on June 17, 1989, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in rural Butler.
She worked most of her life in banking working for Farmers and Merchants State Bank for 17 years, retiring in 2023.
She enjoyed reading, fishing and watching old TV shows to relax.
Wanda was a member of Gideons International Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Keith E. Crowl, of Hamilton; mother, Nadean Nicholas, of Avilla; sister and brother-in-law, DeLilah J. and Mao Somkit, of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews, Katelyn (Kyle) Chard, Matthew (Aleigha) Crowl, Michael (Allie) Crowl, Brian (Bre) Crowl, Rebecca (Rob) Colgan, Amber Nicholas, Kenneth (Amy) Nicholas, Kailoni (Alejandro) Hernandez, Josiah Somkit and Davannah (Chase) Colgan.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother, William G. Nicholas; and her grandparents.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Crossroads of Zion, 7997 C.R. 4A, Hamilton, IN 46742, with visitation from 1-2 p.m., on Saturday prior to the service at the church.
Pastor Gene Thimlar will officiate.
Burial will take place at Hamilton Cemetery.
Visitation also will be from 2-8 p.m., today, Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
