Carlyn Kline Obituary

Carlyn Solveig (Molstad) Kline, MD
1932-2024
Carlyn Solveig (Molstad) Kline, MD passed from this life on December 16, 2024, at her home. She was born on September 6, 1932, to Paul B. and Ann (Roland) Molstad in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was baptized on October 30, 1932. After graduating Whitefish Bay High School, she earned her BS and then her MD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1956. While completing a rotating internship in Houston, Texas, her husband served for two years in the U.S. Army.
"The best decision she ever made" was to marry Dr. Edmund W. Kline on April 21, 1956. In 1961 they moved to St. Joseph, Missouri and built the first house in Stonecrest. She practiced General Medicine at St. Joseph State Hospital for two years and then joined Dr. Evan A. Peterson's Family Medicine practice from 1965 until her retirement in 1991. She also served as Medical Director of Heartland Centre from 1985 until 1994.
An avid reader, she also very much enjoyed classical music and art, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Chiefs and Wisconsin football. She and Ed loved to travel and often combined that with birdwatching, another source of great enjoyment. They visited all 50 states, spent many winters RVing all over Mexico, traveled throughout Canada, visited more than 70 countries, many of them several times, and all seven continents.
She loved her Savior, her family, her profession, and life in general. A lifelong Lutheran, she was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was also a member of P.E.O. chapter BP, Buchanan County Medical Society, and Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association.
Survivors include her children: Kathryn Ellerbeck, MD (Dr. Edward), Kristin Garcia, PLPC, Paul Kline, and James Kline, MD; nine grandchildren: Samantha Ellerbeck (Kevin Draper), Alexandra Ellerbeck (Ben Soloway), Jonathan, Adam, and Charlie Garcia; Lucas Kline (Megan), Gabrielle Kline, PhD (Joseph Cudworth), Katie Kline, OTD, and Max Kline; seven great-grandchildren: Aurelia, Brooklyn, Mason, Payton, Theodore, River, and Jules; sisters-in-law Nancy Molstad and Elizabeth Brown, several nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Ed on June 16, 2017; her only sibling, Paul D. Molstad; sisters-in-law Katherine Gordon and Carlie Gibson; brothers-in-law Dr. Richard Gordon, Theodore Gibson, Dr. Robert Brown, many dear friends and a succession of cherished dogs.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Doctors Without Borders, InterServ, the Arts Fund, St. Joseph Animal Shelter, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 28, St. Paul Lutheran Church. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
