Curt Prussman Obituary
Curtis "Curt" Lynn Prussman passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2025, in Mound City, MO at the age of 72.
Curt was born in St Joseph, MO on October 7, 1952. He was one of three children of Vernon "Jack" and Shirley (Everett) Prussman. He grew up in Forest City, MO and graduated from South Holt High School in 1970.
In May 1971 he married Janet Boehm. From this union two children were born, Stacie Lynn Prussman and Curtis Vernon Prussman. They were married for 20 years before divorcing and remained close friends.
In May 2002 he married Annie Rogers. They resided in Craig, MO. Curt and Annie enjoyed many years of fishing and trap shooting together.
Curt worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for 43 years, retiring in 2014. Most recently he worked for Holstine Farms in Mound City, MO.
Curt enjoyed trap shooting and traveled to many state competitions. He was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA). Curt enjoyed visiting with all of his friends, but mostly enjoyed watching his son Curtis shoot and compete. He also enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, and playing with his dog, Casey. Curt had a daily routine, making his rounds by visiting Curtis at work, then visiting MC Auto to playfully hassle the guys. He stopped at the coffee shop to get the morning news, and called Janet daily to make sure everyone was okay!
Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Shirley Prussman; brother-in-law, Johnny Dickinson; and sisters Becky June Medsker and Linda Kay "Lynn" Dickinson, who both passed away in 2025.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Prussman; ex-wife and friend, Janet Prussman of St. Joseph, MO; friend and companion, Kara Browning of Craig, MO; children, Stacie (Thomas) Todd of St Joseph, MO and Curtis (Jennifer) Prussman of Oregon, MO; stepchildren, Brad Boyer and Kary Nelson of Mound City, and Eric Boyer of Texas; grandchildren, Jackenzie (Hunter) Adams of Independence, MO, Jackson (Mikayla) Todd, and Preslie Todd, all of St. Joseph, Madeline (Garrett) Hanway of Philadelphia, PA, Lynden Prussman of Kansas City, MO, and Olivia Prussman of Oregon, MO; brother-in-law, Bruce Medsker of Forest City, MO; nephews Donnie Medsker and Thomas Medsker of Oregon, MO, Scott Dickinson of Cedar Falls, IA and Marc Dickinson of Des Moines, IA; many cousins and friends, and his yellow lab, Casey.
Mr. Prussman was cremated under the direction of Chamberlain Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 - Curt's birthday - at the Forest City City Hall from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Please bring pictures and share stories of Curt's life and adventures. The family requests memorials be directed to the Mound City R-2 and South Holt R-1 FFA trap shooting organizations. The family will have a private interment at a later date at the Forest City Union Cemetery, next to his parents.
