Debbie Jo Gillispie

Debbie Jo Gillispie 69, of Wathena, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 1, 2025 in Saint Joseph, MO surrounded by family and friends. She was born April 11, 1956 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Betty and Floyd "Gus" Blanton Jr. She graduated from Central High School. Debbie spent most of her life making a home for her children and grandchildren. She loved to walk, spend time with her grandchildren, and flower gardening. Debbie was a fun loving soul who found joy in life's simple moments. She will be remembered for her bright smile, contagious laugh, and the kindness she showed to all. She attended Faith United Baptist Church. Debbie was preceded in death by husband, Michael D, her mother, Betty Jo Blanton, and a brother, Richard Blanton. Survivors include: her father, Floyd "Gus" Blanton Jr., Wathena, KS, daughters, Devin (Austin) Riggs of St. Joseph, MO, and Maycee Blanton (Timmy Wilson), Wathena, KS, and a son, Keenan Blanton, St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren, Delaney, Hudson, Laurel, and Morgan Riggs, and Nova, Vega, and Monza McDowell, sisters, Terry Verbick of Faucett, MO, and Bobbie Thompson, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
