Loren Stanley Laverentz

Loren Stanley Laverentz, 92, of St. Joseph, MO passed away at his home on Monday, September 22, 2025. Loren was born on May 4, 1933, in Bendena, Kansas to William and Ellenora (Ricklefs) Laverentz. He attended Bendena High School and later graduated from Kansas State University in 1955, with a Bachelor of Science in Degree. He was also a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Loren was a farmer living south of Bendena with his first wife Nancy (Caudle) Everhart (deceased in 2023) and their four children, Kim Laverentz of Shawnee, KS, Susan Tierney of Phoenix, AZ, David Laverentz of Colorado Springs, CO and Mark Laverentz of Mission Woods, KS. He moved to St. Joseph, MO and married second wife Helen Angsten in 1976 and together, they had their son Ryan Laverentz of Fayetteville, AR. Loren, Helen and Ryan lived in Lyons, KS. He later married Mary Ann Berry of Hutchinson, KS (deceased in 2019) and later moved to Manhattan, KS attending many K-State football, basketball and volleyball games. Loren was passionate about helping others, serving the community as a Salvation Bell ringer during Christmas and sharing his faith in Jesus Christ. Loren was preceded in death by his parents and one sibling, Gene Laverentz. Survivors include brother Larry Laverentz of Overland Park, KS and a sister, Carol Haddad of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 23 at Moray Cemetery north of Bendena. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Donations in honor of Loren can be made to Moray Cemetery.
