Michael William Burgess

Michael Burgess, 66, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at his home. He was born December 2, 1959 in St. Joseph, son of Velma and William Burgess. Mike attended Benton High School. He worked as a Carpenter for many years. He enjoyed fishing, taking float trips, watching TV, and enjoyed the time spent working on his old Chevy Pickups. Michael was preceded in death by mother, Velma Mae Burgess, father, William LeRoy Burgess, Sr., and sisters, Sharon Kay Russell and Dolores Burgess. Survivors include: his longtime companion, DeLonna Tracy of the home, children, Dwayne (Crystal) Taylor, Dorena (Daryl) Watts, Shannon Burgess, and Rosanna (Richard Miller) Burgess, step son, Michael Tracy (Darcy,) brothers, Willie Burgess and George (Brenda) Burgess, sisters, Peggy Caples and Karen Chapman, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the Rupp Funeral Home. Mr. Burgess will be cremated following services.
