Norma Pinkus Obituary
Norma Elizabeth Pinkus, 93, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away on September 6, 2025. She was born on June 14, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland, to John and Lena Reich. After graduating high school, she attended cosmetology school. Norma married John Harold Pinkus in August of 1951, and together they shared 18 years of marriage until his passing in 1970.
A devoted mother of three, Norma dedicated her life to raising her children-Linda, Jack, and Dave. She worked for the Baltimore County School District in the cafeteria, where she advanced through several roles during her career. In the summers, she managed the snack shack at Sparrows Point Country Club. Norma had a special way with children, and all the neighborhood kids loved spending time at her home.
She enjoyed going to the movies-especially horror films-babysitting neighborhood children, and spending time with her family. Some of her favorite pastimes included watching game shows, playing Old Maid, and making memories with her grandchildren. Norma will be remembered most for her kindness, her generosity, and her willingness to give to others without hesitation.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her son, Dave; her grandson, John Michael; and her four brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Guardado (Frank Evans); her son, Jack (Vicki) Pinkus; grandchildren Ashley (Matt) Thrasher, Brandon (Erin) Guardado, Jason (Jess) VanDevander; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Rupp Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Community Missions (cmcstjoe.org) or Second Harvest. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff and chaplains at Freudenthal for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.
