Dennis Stalp Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis Stalp age 92 of West Point, NE will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE Interment with Military Honors will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the GA Cafeteria. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with a Vigil Service and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE. Dennis passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Symphony Pointe in Elkhorn, NE. Dennis W. Stalp was born August 21, 1932 on the family farm to Joseph and Christina (Schlueter) Stalp. He died July 24, 2025 at Symphony Pointe in Elkhorn, NE at the age of 92. He was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church and attended Guardian Angels Catholic School and graduated from Guardian Angels High School with the class of 1951. Dennis was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1955 to help on the family farm. On September 20, 1955,he married Lorraine Ann Kreikemeier at St. Leo's Catholic Chuirch in Snyder, NE. They lived 3 miles north of West Point where he farmed and raised cattle and hogs. The couple moved into their new brick home during the week of Christmas. Dennis enjoyed singing in the choir and loved playing cards, especially Sheephead and poker and was always the scorekeeper. Other fun times included attending dog racing, horse racing, craps games and family rummy games. There was never a western on TV that he didn't like. Dennis and Lorraine always found time on Saturday nights to swing dance at the Vets Club in West Point. They always stayed to the end of the at 1:00 am or later. They also spent many nights at Ameristar Casino where they met many good friends. Dennis retired in 2004 and they moved to 1113 East Park Street in West Point. After retiring he always made friends at morning coffee and was always up for a good card game. After selling their home, Dennis resided at the Hillside Villa in West Point and most recently at Symphony Pointe in Elkhorn, NE. Dennis's family includes Daughter- Joan (Jim) Mendlik and family- Stacey (Nick) Crom and children-Jackson, Avery and Carter, Travis (Vicki) Mendlik and children-Lakenn and Kooper, Kayla (Trent) Pooley and children-Brooks and Baylor Son-Pat (Cindy Roth) Stalp and family-Jeffrey (Danielle) Stalp and daughter-Ziva, Amy (Anthony) Schenk and children-Presley and Jaycee, Joseph Stalp and son Kalo, Brandon and daughter Annabelle, Kristen Stalp (deceased December 9/30/1986) Son-Ron Stalp (deceased 9/20/2020) and family-Landon (Megan) Stalp and Marshall Stalp, Amy (Scott) Reiner and daughter-Charlotte, and Jackie (Jeremiah) Schantz and children-Boston, Boyd, Jerett and Amos Son-Gerald Stalp (deceased 10/7/1973) Son-Jim Stalp (Heather Posvar Stewart) and son-Quentin Daughter-Judy (Dan) Schroedter, and family- Jessy (Rick) Weaver and daughters-Kylie and Ali, Tyler (T.J) Schroedter Son-Tom Stalp (Brittany Roeber) and family-Andrew Stalp, Aireal Jacob and Emali Holtz Dennis is also survived by Sister-Bernice Hassler Brother-in-law- Paul Johnson Dennis was preceded in death by Parents-Joseph and Christine Stalp Wife-Lorraine Stalp Sons- Ronald and Gerald Stalp Sister-Latherine Johnson Brother-Francis (Joan) Stalp Brother-in law-Vincent Hassler
