Steven Throener

A Celebration of Life for Steven Throener age 71 of West Point, NE will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beemer American Legion Hall in Beemer, NE. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, rural Beemer, NE. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting with the arrangements. Steve passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his home. Steven A. Throener was born February 20, 1954 to Meinolph and Wilma (Hamdorf) Throener at West Point, NE. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School and graduated from West Point Central Catholic High School in 1972. While in high school, Steve was active in 4-H and FFA, receiving honors for showing cattle and hogs. Steve farmed with his parents west of West Point, raising Angus Breeding Stock, Hampshire, and Duroc gilts and boars. Steve showed at many breeders' stock shows. After his father's passing, Steve purchased the farm, raising cattle, hogs, row crops, and hay along with doing custom planting and haying. Steve raced a 66 Chevelle at the Scribner Raceway and in Marion, SD, building his own car called "Red Light District". On October 15, 1993, Steve was united in marriage to Karen Lierman. He was a great father and grandfather, teaching them all things farming. Survivors include- Wife-Karen Throener of West Point, NE Son-Nick and Alexis Schrad of Wisner, NE and family-Zoe and Alex Rasmussen and son-Trent, and Cashius Schrad Son-Ben and Tina Schrad of Beemer, NE and family-Jessie Schrad, Colton Schrad, Camden Schrad, Autumn Schrad, and Merissa Hughes Sister-Sharon and Tom Rief of West Point, NE Brother-Mark and Cindy Throener of Norfolk, NE Nieces and nephews also survive him. Steve was preceded in death by a granddaughter-Emily, his parents-Meinolph and Wilma Throener, and his brother-Mike Throener.
