Cynthia Dailey Obituary

Cynthia "Cindy" Dailey, 90, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City with her loving family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial for Cindy Dailey will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. with a scripture service. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Cindy was born January 2, 1935, to Mathias and Mary Gerhartz in Meyer, Iowa. Cindy started her schooling at Sacred Heart Catholic grade school and attended through 8th grade. She then graduated in 1952 from Adams High School in Minnesota. After graduation, Cindy worked the following summer at the Knitting Mill in Osage. After that she worked for a law firm in Osage until 1959. Cindy united in marriage with John "Jack" Dailey on April 25, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, Iowa. They met at the roller-skating rink just weeks before Jack left for Germany in the service. Her marriage to Jack prompted a move to Charles City and Cindy began work at Salsbury Laboratory until 1960, when their family started expanding. As their 3 children reached school age, Cindy started a new adventure as a substitute cook at the High School cafeteria, then transitioned to full-time at the Junior High cafeteria in 1975 until her retirement in January 1999. Cindy was a woman of great faith as an active member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. During retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, baking goodies, and volunteering for the church on Monday mornings. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Her favorite pastime was spending time with friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Cindy is survived by her 3 children - Patrick (Susan) Dailey, Jeanie (Joe) Weber, and Michael (Jolyn) Dailey; along with 10 grandchildren, Tim (Karla) Dailey, Chris (Laura) Weber, Matt (Emily) Dailey, Joe (Zea) Dailey, Alex (Brishon) Weber, Shannon Dailey, Jenna (Christian) Haffner, Ian Dailey, Aaron (Lexi) Dailey, and Jacob Weber. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Gillious, Arthur, Ellie, Sofia, and Quinlan; sister, Mary Helen French; sister-in-law, Evelyn Dailey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cindy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John "Jack" Dailey; father and mother, Mathias and Mary Gerhartz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Marian Dailey; 2 sisters and their spouses, Millie and Ralph Thome, Kathleen and Joe Freund; and 2 brothers-in-law, Jim French and Tom Dailey.
