Eileen Hora Obituary

Eileen Hora, 94, of Clutier, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea. There will be a Rosary recited prior to the Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Eileen was born on January 1, 1931, in Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (Juska) Hora. Eileen graduated from Clutier High School in 1948. She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, graduating from Loras College Division of Nursing Education in 1951. Eileen worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Oakdale Sanatorium at Oakdale, and University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She retired in 1984, after working in nursing for over thirty years. Eileen enjoyed traveling with her cousin throughout the U.S. She made thirteen overseas trips plus cruises to Alaska, South America, and the Panama Canal. Survivors include several cousins; and a special furry four-legged friend. Preceding her in death were her parents; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
