Larry DeBoest Obituary

Larry "Heavy" DeBoest, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Glienke) DeBoest, departed this life on May 22, 2025, at the age of 72. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Heavy will be remembered for being a man of many words who impacted countless lives. He was a "father figure" to many. Born in Charles City, Iowa, Larry lived a life full of concrete. His work was concrete, and he loved to talk concrete. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1972. He married Martha Rima that same year. They later divorced. To this union, Matt and Trena DeBoest were born. His children and grandchildren were very important to him, as were his bar family and friends. Larry was known for his humor and his ability to make people laugh, always bringing joy and laughter into the lives of those around him. Larry's life was defined by hard work and dedication, qualities that earned him respect and admiration from all who knew him. His passion for concrete was more than a profession; it was a craft that he perfected and cherished throughout his life. Larry's contagious laughter and remarkable sense of humor left a mark on everyone he encountered. His legacy is one of joy, warmth, and unwavering support, attributes that endeared him to his community and family. Larry is survived by his son, Matthew (Heather) DeBoest; daughter, Trena Cox (Nick Weipert); grandsons: Garred Cox, Dawson (Emma) Cox, Trent Cox "#4", Donald James "DJ" DeBoest; and granddaughter, Rylee DeBoest; nephews: Colin (Stephanie) Stock, Robert Stock and Ryan (Cindy) Stock. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cheryl Stock; brother-in-law, Merlin Stock; and nephew, Brad Stock. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 5-8 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life to follow at DeRailed.
