Born in Waterloo, Iowa to Kenneth and Donna (Griefnow) Brandhorst. He was a man whose life was as rich and vibrant as the engines he loved to fix-a life marked by faith, laughter, and a ceaseless sense of discovery.
A proud graduate of Waverly High School, Robert discovered his love for motorcycles while working in a motorcycle shop during his younger years in Waterloo. He received a 2 – year degree from Hawkeye Community College. Over time, he became a self-taught mechanic, learning through hands-on experience and countless trial and error attempts. He loved figuring things out, fixing what was broken, and using what he learned to help friends, family, and anyone in need. His curiosity and generosity made him the first person people called when something wasn't working and he never hesitated to lend a hand.
Robert's life was characterized by his desire to be of service. Whether it was a neighbor in need of a car repair or a friend seeking a listening ear, he was always there when someone really needed him, ready to help with a smile. His quirky and unpredictable nature brought joy and surprise to those around him, making every encounter with Robert a memorable one.
His love for the Bible was profound, and he often turned to scripture for guidance and solace. Robert's faith was not confined to the pages of the good book, however; he lived his beliefs through action, participating in several mission trips that bore witness to his generous spirit and unshakeable faith.
An avid collector, Robert saw the world through a lens of potential. He was a treasure hunter at heart, always on the lookout for discarded items that he could transform into something valuable. Truly embodying the idea of "One man's trash is another man's treasure". This philosophy extended beyond material things, as he often found and nurtured the hidden potential in the people around him.
Robert is survived by his mother Donna Brandhorst of Nashua; sons Noah (Kaitlynn) Brandhorst of Allison and Trevon (Jessica) Brandhorst of Denver, CO; brothers Scott (Jennifer) Brandhorst of Traer and Randy (Cheryl) McGee; sister Susan Parkinson of Germany; niece Paige Gage and nephews; and 3 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Brandhorst.
