Aiden Tetherow Obituary
It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Aiden Gage Tetherow, age 10, of St. Maries, ID, who left this world far too soon on August 24, 2025, on a mountaintop he loved so dearly. Born on July 2, 2015, to Larry and Mariah Tetherow, Aiden was one of the last babies born at Benewah Community Hospital - a distinction his family and community cherish. From the very beginning, Aiden's bright spirit and endless curiosity made him a joy to be around.
Aiden had a passion for learning and truly loved school. He never looked forward to summer breaks because they kept him away from the friends and classrooms he adored. He especially enjoyed reading, writing, math, and exploring Idaho's rich history. Aiden loved to draw and often filled pages with his creativity. He also enjoyed traveling and discovering new places, including trips to Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Florida, Utah, the Oregon and California coasts, South Dakota, and the Southwest. Aiden was proud to earn his fourth-grade National Park Pass and planned a family trip to the Petrified Forest, creating the itinerary himself for a motorhome road trip. The family planned on visiting France for Christmas for Aiden to see the Eiffel Tower and eat macarons.
Always in motion, Aiden excelled at sports, playing basketball, baseball, football, self-defense, and swimming. When he wasn't playing one sport or another, you might find him gaming or out in the mountains in a machine - he even had his own side-by-side and was proud to give his friends a ride.
Though his life was heartbreakingly short, Aiden's impact on his family, friends, teachers, and all who knew him will last forever. He will be remembered for his joyful energy, his eagerness to learn, and the way he embraced the world with wonder. He was the sweetest of boys from the time he was a baby and grew into one of the most loving kids ever. He cared about everything and everyone, never judging, and always making sure everyone was included. Aiden's favorite things were snuggle time with his momma and adventures with his daddy.
Aiden is survived by his loving parents, Larry and Mariah, who treasured every moment with their son; his sister, Brianna (Coby) Bean of Idaho Falls, ID; niece and nephew, Addisyn and Wyatt Bean of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Branden (Cassie) Deakin of Elko, NV; grandparents, David Dunham of St. Maries, ID, and Barb Burns Dunham of Sanders, ID; aunts and uncles, Obadiah (Meredith) Dunham of Snohomish, WA, Autumn Star (Torrey) Cannon of Carlin Bay, ID, Sage (Sara) Dunham of Salem, OR, Linnae (Bret) Baird of Salmon, ID, and Mindy Tetherow of Wilton, CA; thirteen cousins; and many very close friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary Tetherow and Karen Hendricks. Aiden was the center of his family's world, and their hearts are forever changed by his absence.
A graveside service to celebrate Aiden's life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID. The family invites all of their and Aiden's many friends and loved ones to attend.
In honor of Aiden, a scholarship fund has been established in his name (Aiden Tetherow Memorial Scholarship). In lieu of flowers or memorial trees, memorial contributions may be made at Edward Jones, 720 Main Ave., St. Maries, ID 83861, or - if you live out of town - at your local Edward Jones office. This scholarship fund will leave his legacy for years to come.
