David Deryl Ingle

David Ingle passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. David was born on April 26, 1949 in Wallace, Idaho to Deryl and Beverly Carol Ingle. He grew up in the Sunnyside neighborhood in Kellogg, Idaho, surrounded by many of his lifelong friends. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1967. He played baritone in the high school band and loved all kinds of music. He met Linda K Beamis in 1966 in study hall. They went on their first date and had been inseparable ever since. They were married in Kellogg on August 9, 1969 at the local Episcopal Church. He worked at Bunker Hill in Kellogg in the summers and on weekends. He also played in his rock 'n' roll band, "The Marquis," to make extra money for school. They played at local schools, the Northwest Metalworkers Building, and other locations in North Idaho. They won the battle of the bands in Spokane in 1966. "Louie Louie" was always on the playlist. David completed two years at North Idaho Junior college and then transferred to Boise State College in 1969. He received his degree in criminology in 1971. David and Linda moved to Boise, Idaho, where David continued his education. He joined the Boise Police Department in 1971. He held several positions there, including patrolman, juvenile detective and a School Resource Officer (SRO) at South Junior High. Boise was one of the first departments in the nation to begin community policing practices. He was one of the first school resource officers and loved it. He was promoted to Sergeant and then assigned to head the Police Planning Department. David and Linda welcomed their daughter Laurie Kaye in 1971 and twin sons, Aaron David and Adam Delmar in 1974. He coached the boys in baseball and later, in flag football. He spent many afternoons in the backyard playing football with the boys and their friends. He went back to school and received his master's degree in public administration in 1985 from BSU. Shortly after earning his master's degree, he was offered a position at the Spokane Police Department as a Police Planner. He accepted the job and moved the family to Spokane. At SPD, he was a huge proponent of community policing and helped organize and start the C.O.P.S. Shops that are still a vital organization. He later was promoted to the Administrative Director for the department and was in charge of records, accounting, budget, planning and information systems. For a short time, he was an adjunct professor at WSU teaching classes in Criminal Justice. He traveled to Washington DC with Police Chief Terry Mangan and the city administrator to meet with the Speaker of the House Tom Foley where they applied and received a $1 million grant for community policing. David retired in 2007. He soon began volunteering at Sunrise Elementary School, helping first graders learn to read. He loved it and later said it was one of the most rewarding things he had ever done. He also joined the Over the Hill Golfing League in Liberty Lake, WA. He looked forward to every Monday morning, well, except when it was snowing or raining. He had a great time and enjoyed their friendship and camaraderie. David loved all kinds of sports: golf, football and basketball, to name a few. He was a big fan of the University of Idaho football team and an avid fan of Gonzaga basketball. David and Linda have attended the Gonzaga basketball tournament every year in Las Vegas since 2010 with several high school friends. Go Zags! David and Linda have spent the last eight winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona. They joined friends and enjoyed all kinds of outings and trips in the Arizona area. David and Linda enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren whenever possible. They loved taking trips together to Montana and the Oregon coast. They treated the whole family to Disneyworld several years ago for an unforgettable trip. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Spokane Valley; his children: daughter, Laurie Boesch (Jerry) of Hermiston, Oregon, sons Aaron Ingle of New Meadows, Idaho, and Adam (Sarah) Ingle of Meridian, Idaho; five grandchildren: Brennan, Kayelyn, Owen, Tristen, and Wilson. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Deryl David and Beverly Carol Ingle; brother Kenneth Michael Ingle; sister Linda Gail Ingle; and granddaughter Kess Taryn Boesch. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your favorite charity or Spokane C.O.P.S. () to Isaac's bookshelf which supply books to sick children at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
