DELBERT ZURCHER Obituary
Delbert Glenn Zurcher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 13, 2025, in Plummer, Idaho, at the age of 88. He was born on May 25, 1937, in the same town where he would spend much of his life, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of community.
Delbert was the son of Delbert O. Zurcher and Katherine ( Kay) King, and he was preceded in death by his father, Delbert O. Zurcher and Mother Kay King and son Delbert Zurcher. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda M. Zurcher, whom he married on July 14, 1972, in Chester, Washington. Together, they shared a remarkable 53 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and the companionship that only true partners can know.
Delbert attended school in both Plummer, Idaho and Tekoa, Washington, where he developed a strong work ethic that would shape his life. He worked as a logger and in
the sawmill, gaining a reputation for his exceptional safety record, earning numerous awards for his commitment to no accidents while on the job. His dedication to hard work was matched only by his passion for life and the people around him.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Delbert had a vibrant personality that endeared him to many. He was known for his slight temper, but those who knew him best appreciated his innate kindness and willingness to help others. He instilled values of loyalty, compassion, and the belief that every person is equal, no matter their differences.
Delbert's interests were as diverse as his character. He found joy in tending to his garden and caring for his bees, activities that allowed him to connect with the earth and share his bounty with those he loved. Throughout his life, he also participated in 4-H during his youth, where he proudly won many ribbons for his animals, showcasing his dedication and talent.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, encapsulated in his cherished family. Delbert is survived by his children: Marie E. Zurcher, William J. Zurcher, Clyde L. Zurcher, Guy Zurcher, and Vera K. Zurcher. He was also a proud grandfather to Damian Hurley, Kasey Zurcher, Ashley Zurcher, Diamond O. Gardner, Alex Nickerson, Sara Nickerson, Seann D. Gardner, Danielle Zurcher, and Ollie Gardner, as well as many great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his spirit forward.
Delbert will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family and community but also for the values he imparted on those around him. His warm heart, strong principles, and zest for life will leave an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.:
A funeral service will be held to honor his life and legacy on September 4th, 2025 at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests trees or other plants be planted in Delbert's memory
