Gary S. Walker

1944 - 2025

Gary Stanley Walker age 80 passed away on February 14th 2025 at his home. Gary was born on November 21, 1944 in Spokane,Wa to Stanton and Camille (Millie) Walker. Gary and his two brothers (Chuck and Dean) were raised in Northport.
Gary was the baby of the family and never let his brothers forget it, if his brothers ever looked sideways at him, he would holler "Mom!" One of Gary's favorite memories from his childhood was being a Cub Scout in the color guard, for the dedication of the Lowry airport in Northport. In high school, Gary loved playing basketball and baseball, though he admitted sports were difficult for him as he was blind in his left eye. This meant he didn't always see those balls coming! Gary was one of the eight 12 year seniors in his class of ten that graduated from Northport High School in 1963. When Gary was right out of high school he worked many different jobs, like working for the Phillips Ranch, Janni's quarry, Carney Pole, and Pigeon Hole Parking in Spokane. Gary later married Diana Guertin and they had one son Brett. He finally found his career when he started working for the Department of Natural Resources. Gary worked for the Department for 35 years, having many different jobs, from surveyor to region operations manager while always participating in the wildfire program. Gary retired in 2002, to spend more time golfing and fishing at Deep Lake. It didn't matter what his plans were for the day, if one of his grandsons needed his help, he would drop everything. Gary could always be found at any band concert, school program or sporting event supporting the Walker boys.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and both of his brothers. Gary is survived by his wife Diana Walker (Guertin), son Brett Walker (wife LeeAnne), Grandsons Luke Walker, Shane Walker (wife Katie), Justin Walker and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life for Gary will be held on April 5, 2025 at 11:00 am in Colville at the Colville Ag Trade Center 317 W Astor.
