Harry McCartney Obituary

February 21, 1929 - October 1, 2025Spokane, WA – Harry McCartney, 96, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, just five days after his beloved wife of 74 years, Evelyn. Born in Aberdeen, WA, Harry served in the U.S. Navy for two years before moving to Wenatchee, WA, where he ended up meeting Evelyn Groh, the love of his life. Shortly after, they married and moved to Odessa. There they started their family, beginning with Peggy and, less than a year later, Judy. Eventually moving to Harrington, they had a son, Tom. Harry had a fuel distribution business through Standard Oil for many years before becoming an insurance agent. He was active in the Harrington Volunteer Fire Department and Lions Club.A lifelong outdoorsman, Harry taught skiing until age 90 and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Evelyn lived many good years in Spokane. Preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; and children, Peggy, Judy, and Tom, he is survived by grandchildren, Gavin (Kayla) Wagner, Travis (Haley) Wagner; and great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Tate, and Treig.A joint memorial with Evelyn will be held at 12:30 pm, on October 17, 2025, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Harrington, WA.
