Madge Eleanor Harper

Madge Eleanor Harper, 77, of Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025. Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, she was the seventh of ten children of Robert John Harper and Hazel Laves Harper. Madge attended St. Vincent's Academy in Savannah and later Armstrong State College, where she graduated in 1970 with an Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She went on to have a long and dedicated career in dental hygiene, working both full and part time while raising her children. She especially enjoyed the opportunity her work gave her to connect with patients and colleagues. Madge completed her career at Bearable Dentistry in Moscow, Idaho, before retiring. A devoted mother and grandmother, Madge's greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jeffrey Cauble, with whom she shared a close bond. She is survived by her daughter Angela and son-in-law Bradley Smith, her son Ben and his wife Krystal Holloway, and her daughter-in-law Christa Cauble, widow of Jeffrey. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Britney, Brandon, Aiden, Liam, and Gemma, who brought her endless pride and joy. Madge was preceded in death by all nine of her siblings-Rita, Ann, Mary, Joan, Patrick, Robert, Michael, John, and Frances-each of whom held a special place in her heart. Madge enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-thrifting for treasures, working on puzzles and crosswords, and watching sports, especially the Seattle Seahawks. She was known for her kindness, easygoing spirit, and quiet devotion to the people she loved. A lifelong Catholic, she found peace and comfort in her faith and often attended Mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Spokane. Madge is also survived by many extended family members and friends, all of whom will remember her for her warmth, gentle humor, and generosity of heart.
