MARY SLINKARD Obituary

On October 8, 2025 Mary Patricia Smith Slinkard, transferred her residence from Earth to her new eternal home in heaven, where she was joyfully welcomed and given a new and eternally perfect mind and body. Mary was born in Lewiston Idaho on December 18, 1951, the beloved daughter of Clifford and Margaret Smith. She was soon taken home to Peck Idaho, where she spent her childhood hiking the trails, swimming in the creek and riding horses. Mary Loved everything about nature, had a eye for beauty, and especially loved all kinds of animals, particularly dogs and cats, but especially horses. Mary has her oldest brother Kent, in Loveland, Colorado, her older sister Peggy Keough in Spokane, Washington and her older brother Craig in Clarkston, Washington. She also has her younger brother Mike in Santee, California, and her younger sister Robin in Fruitland, Idaho. All are alike and are doing well. Mary attended grade school in Peck and High School in Orofino, and then to Kinman Business University in Spokane. Upon graduation she took a job at Gritman Memorial Hospital in Moscow, Idaho, where she worked as afternoon/evening receptionist. Within a week she met her future husband Bill, and less than a year, on April 4, 1972, they were married. Within a year they moved to Palouse Washington, bought their first home and settled in. In 1975 their first son Mathew was born, with Sean following in 1978, and finally Heidi. In 1982, each child being welcomed and dearly loved. When all the children were in grade school, Pat began working at WSU social and economic research, where she continued until retiring in 2015. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother throughout her life. She was truly God's best gift to me, second only to Jesus. Interment services will be held on Friday October 17, at 2:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse, with a celebration of her life being held at Encounter Ministries, 645 N. Grand Ave, Pullman, WA.
