Samuel Jacot Obituary

Samuel Caleb Jacot Jr. (91) of St. Maries, ID passed away at his home on September 25, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born to Samuel and Bessie (Cerveny) Jacot Sr. on November 14, 1933, in San Mateo, CA. Sam grew up in St. Maries, ID and attended school there. He played basketball and excelled at football playing quarterback for the team. Sam graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1951. Following high school, Sam married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Donna Spicer, in Coeur d' Alene, ID on June 3, 1951. An apprenticeship position with the U.S. Navy took the newlyweds to Bremerton, WA. Sam completed a 4-year apprenticeship while earning his Associate's Degree in Mathematics at the University of Puget Sound. Sam then went to work for Boeing, where he served as a machinist in Aerospace; he and Donna made their home in Seattle, WA. After a couple decades with Boeing, Sam left to teach at Shoreline Community College for several years before taking a management position with Mamco Manufacturing Company, where he ultimately ended up serving as president of the company. Sam retired in 1995. In 2000, Sam and Donna built a home on the Spokane River in Post Falls. Five years later they moved to Shelley Lake in Spokane Valley, WA. In 2016, they permanently returned to St. Maries. Through the years, Sam was most passionate about serving the Lord Jesus and teaching the gospel. Early on he and Donna opened their home and began an outreach to children called "Funspiration" and a separate outreach for teenagers called "Staff and Shoe." The Jacot home was a place where neighborhood kids hung out. There were basketball and football games, food and fun, and learning the Bible. He and Donna also hosted Island Lake Bible Camp for young people. They were looked upon as "adopted" parents by many. Their door was always open, their home was filled with love, and they enjoyed sharing the Word of God. For many years, Sam also enjoyed reading, studying the Word, carpentry, and caring for his beautiful yard. Sam is survived by his children Stuart (Sharon) Jacot of St. Maries, ID; Brad (Kathy) Jacot of Henderson, NV; Bryan (Helene) Jacot of Crescent City, CA; and Gayle (Kirk) Nygaard of Kona, HI; Hiromi (Sue) Nara of Freeland, WA; sister Betty Milton of Richfield, MN; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Fred Jacot. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, 10:00 am at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Lunch will then be served at the Community Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. All are invited. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
