Thomas Witt Obituary

WITT, Thomas Alan, Age 68 of Spokane Valley, WA Our brother, Thomas Alan Witt, passed away peacefully the morning of February 13th, 2025, at the age of 68 with his family and lifelong friend, Kathy Kendall, by his side. Tom was the first born of seven children to Stephen and Dolores Witt, on July 12th 1956. He graduated from University High School in Spokane Valley, class of 1974. During his time at U-Hi, Tom discovered the sport of wrestling and surprised many with his strength and endurance. His name was unknown until one exciting match which this newcomer met a future State Champion. A reversal in the 3rd period put Tom behind only a few points prompting his opponent to ask as they shook hands, "Where did you come from?" Taking after his father, Tom had a passion for cars especially classics. This showed in his meticulous care of his pride and joy, a 1969 blue Camero. (EMBO) Tom expanded his knowledge in 1985, when he graduated from Spokane Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science Auto Body and Fender. Besides working on cars and small engines, Tom was a skilled water skier and was intrigued with fossils and rocks of all kinds. He also enjoyed gardening, especially proud of his numerous tulips and perennials every spring. As a young boy, Tom received a telescope and his fascination with astronomy began. Not wanting anyone to miss an event, he frequently would inform family and friends of dates to best view comets, planets and the Northern Lights. Music was another passion of Tom's and the house was always filled with a variety of artists, especially Blue Oyster Cult. Time spent listening to tracks or music videos with Kevin was a favorite pastime. His appreciation spanned from Billy Idol to BOC. Preceded in death his father, Stephen Witt and his mother, Dolores Witt. Tom will be remembered by siblings Richard Witt (Wendy), Kathleen Beck (Don), Donald Witt (Shelly), Kevin Witt (Jenny), Colleen Brock (Donald), and Timothy Witt (Kelly). Along with numerous nieces and nephews. Our family expresses a deep Thank You to Hospice of Spokane, especially Georgie, for making it possible for Tom to remain in his home. Over the past year Tom made a point to share a song by Buck Dharma with many of us. In remembrance, sit for a few minutes with Tom and listen to "The End of Every Song" Peace Brother

So sorry to learn of Tom´s early departure. We shared many interests! I´ve had three 1969 Camaros and now have a 2017 (50th) blue Camaro. I´m also a flower lover and follow celestial events! We sure have to cherish every day we have on this earth.

Sincere Condolences!

From Richard Witt of MO.

Tom and I were friends for over 40 years.
I enjoyed riding around in the camero he was so fond of. "Wow" soooo many years ago. We kept in touch and I was invited to some special family funtions over the years. Always felt like I was part of the family with his mom, dad, brothers and sisters.
Thanks for all the memories my sweet friend. Kathy

Tom was one of a kind! You would see a gruff guy at first glance but the Tom I got to know was kind and compassionate (probably not something he would have want to admit too). Tom was tough! He displayed that toughness in his battle with cancer. I am so glad he is now a peace! Rest my friend!
