James Barnes Obituary

James Leo "Jimmy" Barnes, 68, of Boston, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born April 28, 1945, in New Hope. He was of the Baptist Faith, a Navy Veteran, and worked in the trucking and construction industries. He loved and adored his kids, grandkids, and his family, who adored him in return.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Anna Lee Barnes; three brothers, Tommy Barnes, Leslie Ray Barnes and Terry Barnes; and a sister, Lois Impelliz.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Lenzen Barnes, of Boston; a son, LTC Shawn (Natalia) Barnes; a daughter, Mindy (Jeff) Whiting; his grandchildren, Tyler, Aric, Sydney Barnes, Anna (Joel) Thelen, and Benjamin and Connor Whiting; a brother, Bobby Barnes; three sisters, Joyce Spond, June Jone, Carol Carter; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for James Leo "Jimmy" Barnes will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at William R. Rust Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Nelsonville Cemetery. The Rev. Dana DeSpain will officiate.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name.
William Rust Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
