Ronald Forrest Obituary

Ronald Lee "Uncle Ron" Forrest, 71, of Bardstown, passed Saturday, January 22, 2022, just a month before his birthday. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. He was born on Feb. 22, 1950, in Louisville to the late Leroy and Imogene Leasor Forrest. Ron dedicated his life to teaching others about the many joys found in the woods or on the lake. Kids learned to hunt and fish under his close supervision, while learning about the importance nature brings to one's life. It was in this, that Ron earned the term of endearment, Uncle Ron.
Ron was one of the original organizer's of the NWTF Wheelin' Sportsman, an organization devoted to bringing the joy of the outdoors to those with disabilities. It was the simple pleasures of sharing his love for the outdoors that brought Ron the greatest happiness. He has now joined his friends who have gone before him to scope out the best hunting and fishing spots while they waited for Ron to arrive.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nellie Forrest; a daughter, Christie Forrest; a granddaughter, Tawny Forrest; a stepson, Jason (Laura) Lowe, their children, Jace and Ellie; and an aunt, Nadine Noe. He is also survived by many cousins and a band of friends who have remained closer than brothers.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Houghlin Greenwell Funeral Home with interment in Maraman Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home. Contributions requested to Adaptive Sportsman of KY.
Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

To all of Uncle Ron's Family , Friends and loved ones.
My prayers, thoughts and well wishes during this time are with you all. I pray that God will give you the strength and may the love of those around you and in prayer provide comfort and peace to get you all through the days ahead.
Uncle Ron was a man that put so many smiles on so many, everyone that knew him. He gave his all to everything he did and expected nothing in return but a big smile and a big hug. He was one of a kind. If there were more like him this world sure would be a better place.
I am honored and blessed to have been able to share in his life and wonderful spirt. He was truly a blessing to me and everyone that knew him.
Losing someone we love so much is nothing easy.
Despite the lose of his physical presence He will be terribly missed. He was loved by all of us and will be cherished in our memories forever. All the wonderful times spent together and his zest for life are what we have to remember. I have so many and I'm sure you all do to. He will forever remain in our hearts and never forget him. I'm sure God had the gate wide open for him.
May he rest in Peace! Hopefully one day we will all be reunited together in the next life.
Wishing you peace to bring comfort and courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in our hearts.
May God bless and watch over you all always.

With deepest sympathy.
