Brock Jeffrey Nelson

LA CRESENT - Brock Jeffrey Nelson, age 35, of La Cresent, Minn., died in an ATV accident in Montrose County, Colo. on September 13, 2025.
Brock was born on January 22, 1990, at Winona Health Hospital, to Scott and Rebecca (Chiglo) Nelson. His birth was celebrated by his immediate family who couldn't wait for his arrival. Dr. John Petersen delivered Brock and often referred to Brock as his "Full Nelson".
Brock was baptized at the Rushford Lutheran Church and was confirmed at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Brock attended school in Houston where he excelled in wrestling, being a state champion, football as all-conference his sophomore and junior years, and baseball. He graduated from Caldonia High School in 2008. Brock's true love was spending time racing and excelling in Motocross. He was on a dirt bike before learning to ride a pedal bike. Brock loved anything with a motor which included snowmobiles, four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and boating with his friend, Traye. He loved hunting and was on a trip with his brother at the time of his death. He was so proud he was able to down an elk prior to his accident. Brock worked hard. In high school he worked at the Houston Sprout Farm, and Mount La Crosse with his buddy, Travis Baumgartner. After high school he attended Western Technical College.
Brock had worked for JB Holland, in Decorah, Iowa, as a heavy equipment operator and helped Woody's Tree Service, and his Uncle Tim. He was most recently employed by Mathiowetz Construction, where he was able to work with great friends and a boss he dearly loved, Adam Kimball. He loved his work and spoke very highly of the company and his friends. Brock joined his father as a partner in Scott & Brock Nelson Logging. He was a fantastic log cutter and was running skidders at the age of 12. Brock loved that he was able to work side-by-side with his father and best friend, they had an unbreakable bond.
Brock is survived by his fianceé, Audrey Schlenvogt; his parents, Scott and Becky Nelson; best friend and brother, Beau Nelson (Samantha Ryckman). He is further survived by his grandparents, Darlene Chiglo of Rushford, Minn. and Jeanne and Larry Weaver of Foley, Ala.; aunts and uncles, Terry (Deb) Chiglo of Houston, Minn., Traci (Cory) Pederson of Whalan, Minn., Jay (Rebekah) Nelson of Reeseville, Wisc., Stacey Nelson and Tait Wege of West Salem, Minn.
He is further survived by his cousins, Kennedy (Michael) Babicz, Carter (Kirsten) Layne Chiglo, Harison (Adrianna), Jack Chiglo, Cade, Coy Pederson, Jesse, Kelsey, Alex, Brady Nelson, Cody Nelson, Seth Paresens, Abigal Nelson; special godparents, Tim and Gwen Nelson and their children, Craig, Melinda and Nicole.
Brock was a social butterfly; he had a kind heart and would do anything for anyone. He loved his Detroit Lions, cheering for them from the time he was a small child until the day he left us; he never wavered.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Glen Nelson, Rogen Chiglo; uncle, Jeffrey Chiglo; great-uncle, Verle Ramsey; and his faithful Bulldog, Dozer.
Recently Brock was able to fulfill his dream of owning a farm. He loved that place and took great pride in updating it and making it his and Audrey's home. He was so proud of his hard work.
Private family services are being planned. A celebration of Brock's Life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday September 21, 2025, at the La Crescent Event Center, in La Crescent, Minn.
A Scholarship will be set up for individuals going into the heavy equipment industry.
