Byron 'Slim' Anderson Jr.
HOLMEN -- Byron "Slim" Anderson Jr., 73, of Holmen passed away Tuesday night, Feb. 9, 2021, in his home.
He was born March 27, 1947, to Bryon Anderson Sr. and Evelyn (Sackmaster).
Slim loved his time up north at his camper on the lake, fishing everyday in the spring, summer and fall. He loved getting together with his great group of friends for his favorite meal, breakfast. Lunch dates with his buddies, dinner or coffee talk with his coffee crew at Quick Stop or Burger King, and Friday night fish for many years.
He loved spending time with his son, Jared, watching him grow up and play sports throughout high school and college. He was always excited when his bonus kids, Mike Coady (Becky) and Molly Viehl (Corey) would be in town, with his bonus grandkids, Isabel, Ray, and Lou Coady, Maisy, George, Gus and Charlie Viehl, and take them fishing or relaxing on the deck at the lake. He loved watching high school baseball at the pit, enjoyed following the Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball, Milwaukee Brewers, along with the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed deer hunting in the fall his entire life, at his grandpas old farm land outside of Holmen, with his brother, Steve and son, Jared. You'd always find him with Diet Pepsi and Winston in his hand and you'd be greeted with a big warm jolly smile everyone knew and loved about him. He was a great friend, loyal, hospitable, genuine, everyone enjoyed all of his stories and sense of humor.
Slim served his country in the U.S. Army and toured to Vietnam, and was a postmaster, in Holmen, for 34+ years.
He was survived by his only son, Jared; brothers, Dennis, Steve; sisters, Gloria, Diane.
A heart felt special thank you from Jared on behalf of his Dad, to the people that helped him these past few years at home and around town, when he started to slow down. Bill Frier, Richard Kastenschmidt, Sandra Gilbertson, his brother, Steve, Carl Hanson, and Eric Hanson. Would also like to thank his camping neighbors, Buck and Linda LeJune, and David and Karla Anderson, for keeping his spirits up and helping him out at his camper, for many great years up north, and especially his siblings, for all their help. I appreciate you more than I can describe.
Service/memorial will be a casual virtual memory sharing opportunity in a few weeks, via Zoom app, and in person service and location TBA later in the Spring.
Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

So very sorry for your loss Jared and family. Our memories go back to postmaster and all the time spent on bleachers together watching our son's play ball. A smiling face to run into and talk about family and future of our son's. A great man who will be missed by many and the Holmen community. RIP Slim and thoughts and prayers to the family.

I really can't believe Slim is gone. He was so layed back and easy to get along with. I knew Slim from our college days, both being members of the Vet's Club at UW LaCrosse. I think I spent more time over at Goodtime Street than I did at my own house. One of my fondest memories was when we all worked on converting an old fire department wagon into the Vet's Club parade wagon. We had so much fun. So long Buddy. You were loved by all who knew you and will be sorely missed.

I've known Slim for quite a while. He has always been a good guy and was always willing to help whoever needed it. During these past few months, I had the opportunity to reconnect with Slim and during that time, we had alot of good conversations. We talked about our children, sports, the state of our nation and our lives. What I remember the most is the day Slim talked about his belief in God and how he wanted to spend eternity in Heaven with his loved ones. I know that's where hes at. God bless Slim and his family.

My deepest symphyses' to all of Slim's family. Slim and I go way back. Starting in 4th grade. We had our first full time job together, working on the railroad in the summer of 1965. Lots of good memories. He told jokes that made me laugh and laugh...We had a lot serious times together over the years. Some real heavy discussions, about living, at his cottage. Fishing was fun with Slim. Going to his favorite night club, on the lake, up north, with Eino and I will never be forgotten. A true friend.

Slim has been one of the most outstanding friends a person could ask for. You couldn't help but love the guy.
I met Slim in 1972 when starting college at UW-L. I was fresh out of the Navy. Ended up being one of his room mates. We lived at "Goodtime Street", as it was fondly known as. It was our home and bonding place. Friendships are what you put into them and Slim put his heart into being everyone's friend.
Slim was my Best Man at my wedding. He's been one of my best friends since I first met him. If Slim couldn't put a smile on your face then nobody could.
I've been through so many great experiences with Slim it's hard to count them all. When I tell people about some of our "experiences" they are all jealous.
Slim will be missed by so many people. But his kindness, humor, generosity and caring attitude will live on in those whose lives he has touched.

I have so many memories with Slim as did many others. Memories of camping out on the Mississippi River sandbars with Slim and his many friends, bar hopping in La Crosse, Duck's unlimited nights and many trips up to Slim's camper for fishing. When up north we would sit out on the deck in early morning having coffee and enjoying the singing of the birds and solving world problems. We would spend a couple of hours fishing and then go out for breakfast, go fishing again and then enjoy Friday night fish at Fireside. Good memories of a great guy!!! RIP Slim!!

It's impossible to list all the memories I've had with Slim. Early years of camping out on sandbars with Slim and friends, bar hopping in downtown La Crosse, many fun times up north at his camper where we had fun fishing, going out for breakfast, Friday night fish at the Fireside, quiet mornings sitting on the deck enjoying coffee and listening to the birds and solving world problems. None of us will forget Slim's Surprise Birthday party Jared organized, so many of his good friends and relatives enjoying stories of Slim!! I'm Going to miss those times but have good memories and photos to remind me of what a great friend and person Slim was!!!

I only knew Slim from hunting out at the farm for the last 13 years. I looked forward to seeing him and having great conversations and hearing his stories. Slim will forever have a place in my heart and my memories. He will truly be missed. His family is in my thoughts and prayers.
