Don Parr Obituary

Don and Helen Parr

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don and Helen Parr, a devoted couple who shared 72 years of love, partnership, and kindness. Helen, aged 90, passed away on September 17, 2025, and Don, aged 92, passed away on September 18, 2025. They passed away peacefully, surrounded by their loving family. It was a heartbreakingly beautiful journey.

A love story for the ages, Don and Helen were married on Valentine's Day and built a beautiful life together filled with laughter, shared dreams, and unwavering support for each other.

Don was a lifelong farmer, dedicated to working the land, caring for his animals, and his John Deere tractors. Helen was a devoted farm wife and mother, always caring for others, and spent 17 years as a nursing assistant.

Together, they shared many interests, including square dancing, card club, bowling, and traveling. The time they spent with family, friends, and neighbors was very special to them. Together, they also shared Don's love of wood carving. Don crafted many beautiful pieces that Helen artistically painted, which they generously gifted to their family and many others. Don was also an avid Hunter and an active member of the Bud Sportsman's Club and shared many wonderful hunting experiences with family and friends.

As loving parents, together they raised seven children: Steve Parr (Terri), Kathy Skaaland (Mike Hauge), Karen Nielsen (Brian), Nancy O'Connor, Kevin Parr (Carolyn), Linda Dregne (Donnie), and Kim Redders (Dominic). Their legacy continues with 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

They are also survived by Helen's brother, Jim Broadhead (Liz); and Don's sisters, Cheryl Jenkins (Bill) and Gloria Kilmer (Jerry).

In addition to their parents, Joe and Bessie Broadhead, and Edmund and Pearl Parr, they were preceded in death by Helen's siblings: Irene, Don, Ken, Doris, Arlene, Darrell, George, and Robert; and by Don's siblings, Harlan, Duane, Gaylord, and Eugene. They were also preceded in death by two very special grandsons, E. G. George and Jerad Redders; son-in-law Tim O'Connor; and nephews, Michael Kilmer and Marlin Parr.

Their love for each other and shared commitment to their family will continue to serve as an inspiration to all who knew them. Memorial donations can be made in their memory to St Croix Hospice or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The family gives their heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care Don and Helen received from the Norseland Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice.
