Dorothy (Kjos) Every
ONALASKA -- Dorothy (Kjos) Every, 89, of Onalaska died at home Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021. She was born in Whitehall, July 7, 1931, to Albert and Clara (Estenson) Kjos. She married Clayton M. Every, Jan. 30, 1952, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in La Crosse.
Dorothy graduated from La Crosse Central High School and worked several places, with the work she is most proud of is being the co-founder of Every Plumbing in 1969, along with her husband, Clayton. She remained involved with the business even after her retirement and enjoyed being a part of the commercials filmed commemorating 50 years in business.
Dorothy loved devoting time to her church and especially her time on Church Council and teaching confirmation classes.
In her free time, she enjoyed watching baseball and softball, bowling, roller skating, dancing, fishing, camping with family, especially at the Back 40, and shopping trips with her daughters. She and Clayton were avid fans of the Barrel Inn women's fast pitch team and became their adopted grandparents. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought so much joy to her life.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Sharon Kjos, Janice Fink, Dennis (Mary) Every, John Every, and Jacqueline (Charles) Wallace; grandchildren, Craig (Amy) Every, Penny (Jeff) Alibrandi, Brittany Geary, Brianna Every, and Hunter Wallace; great-grandchildren, Riley and Jackson Every and Nina and Hailee Alibrandi. She is also survived by three sisters, Delores Osweiler, Beverly Davis, and Audrey Wedwick; and her brother, Vernon Kjos; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many special friends. Dorothy treasured her visits with her great-grandchildren, Emma and Alaina Fink. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton; son-in-law, Richard Fink; five sisters; and three brothers.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or Sugar Creek Bible Camp.
A complete obituary and online condolences can be found at www.schumacher-kish.com. A video recording of Dorothy's funeral service will be available Thursday afternoon, Feb. 11, on the funeral home's website and clicking on the Facebook icon.

What a special and talented lady Dorothy was. We are so grateful for the "Every Plumbers" she raised who we know we can always call on. She taught you well... Was fun seeing her on the TV commercial still in charge!! Also, we especially remember Dorothy's devotion to First Lutheran. She was always there to greet everyone with a friendly smile and went the extra mile to get to know and make new members feel so welcome. She had a heart of gold and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate and remember the wonderful life you were blessed to share with her.

My deepest sympathies to all of Dorothy's family. I was so lucky to get to know Dorothy when she came to cheer us on during softball on Tuesday nights. We would always joke that we didn't think that Dorothy and Driz came initially to watch us, but we claimed them as our #1 fans and grandparents. Truth is, we were their fans! We reveled in her stories of playing ball, and we said she had a spot on our team and should get back out on the field. She always had a quick witted response and a smile whenever we said we were subbing her in. She will be greatly missed.
