JANESVILLE - Janet C. Paulsrud, age 80, of Janesville, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at home. She was born in Viroqua on September 27, 1943, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Larson) Johnson. Janet was a graduate of Viroqua High School in 1961 and attained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from University of Whitewater in 1966. She married Tilford "Paul" Paulsrud on July 25, 1964. Janet started her teaching career at Jefferson Elementary School as a second grade teacher and then later at Lincoln Elementary School for both second and third grade until her retirement in 2003 after 37 years. She was very active in the PTA at Lincoln Elementary and was a cooperating teacher for UW Whitewater. She was a member of the Janesville Area Retired Educator's Association (JAREA). She was the first teacher in Janesville to receive the Crystal Apple Award from NBC Channel 15 in 2003, which she was very proud of. She enjoyed baking, making candy, Lefse and Norwegian desserts, reading and attending her grandchildren's athletic events. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Janesville and would often bake Norwegian cookies for the Fall Bazaar. Janet was extremely proud of her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her husband of 59 years, Tilford "Paul"; two daughters; Renee (Mark) Dooman of Janesville and Patsy Dean of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren: Sophia and Carson Dooman and Lilly Schuler; and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at Noon on Friday, October 6, 2023, at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Ave, Janesville with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park following the service. Visitation will take place on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
