Randy Burner Obituary

Randy C. Burner

May 18, 1953 - August 30, 2025

LA CROSSE - Randy C. Burner, 72, of La Crosse passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born on May 18, 1953 in Crosby, ND to Robert and Shirley (Thompson) Burner. He graduated from Noonan High School in Noonan, ND.

Randy proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1977. After his service, he pursued higher education at the North Dakota State School of Science, earning associate degrees in both sheet metal and heating and cooling.

In 1979, he began working at Trane Company in La Crosse, WI, where he worked as a Lead Principal Designer until his retirement in 2015. Randy was a man of many talents and passions. He was an award-winning competition trap shooter and an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting, especially pheasant hunting in North Dakota. He also enjoyed baseball, softball, and golf, and was a loyal fan of the Brewers, Packers, and Bucks. Music was another love of his, he played the guitar and sang, even performing in a band during his younger years.

Randy is survived by his children, Brianna (Cindy) and their son, Cameron of Escanaba, MI; Jake and his girlfriend, Hannah, of Holmen, WI, and Joe (Cayla) of Mohall, ND; siblings, Val (Bill) Strasser of Underwood, ND, Scott (Laurie) Burner of Minot, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert "Bob" and Shirley; and his siblings, Judy and Robbie.

A Celebration of Randy's Life will be held in Noonan, ND sometime in the fall. The exact date will be announced when scheduled. Randy will be buried at the Noonan Bethlehem Cemetery in Noonan, ND. Online condolences can be given at www.schumacher-kish.com.

Randy was extremely generous, always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his kids, their spouses, his grandson, and grand-dogs more than anything else.

Before his passing, he left a message for his family and friends:

"Let them know that I had a wonderful life and I wouldn't change a thing. I am so proud of my family and all they have accomplished in the time I was with them. Live your life to its fullest, smile and lend a helping hand, dream the impossible dream, respect others feelings and let them know that they are somebody. Love you All, Always"
