Roger Carlos Cram

May 28, 2025

Roger Carlos Cram, age 81, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Brownsville, Minnesota, surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 30, 1943, in La Crosse to Harold Ramon Cram and Elena (Chavez) Cram, Roger lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and love for life.

After serving honorably in the United States Navy, Roger returned home to continue the family's legacy in the grocery business. He devoted his professional life to the industry, mastering the art of butchery. His award-winning sausages and bratwurst earned him a well-deserved reputation in the community.

Roger had a deep appreciation for fine food and wine and was a proud member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international society dedicated to culinary excellence. He found joy in sharing meals and memories with fellow connoisseurs and family.

An avid outdoors enthusiast, Roger found peace on the golf course, in the woods hunting or hiking and on the water fishing. These moments brought him joy and were often shared with family and friends.

Roger's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was deeply devoted to his family and found fulfillment in being a parent and grandparent. His life was marked by integrity, generosity, and humility.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David and Harold (Ramon) Cram. He was survived by his children: Angela (Mark Barros) Cram of Pembroke, MA; Nathan Cram of La Crosse, WI; and Kimberly (Travis Emery) Cram of Lakeville, MN; along with grandchildren Elizabeth LaPine, Natalee Cram, Anya Cram, Owen Emery, Elena Emery, Alexander Barros, and Matthew Barros. He is also survived by siblings Judy Twite, Norman (Chris) Cram, Linda (Gary) Wohlers, Mark (Sandy) Cram, and Stanley (Wanda) Cram.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 9 at 12:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow at Bethany Church, 3936 County Road B, La Crosse, WI.

Nate, I'm very sorry for your loss. I worked at Gundersen in Medical Records when you worked there in Security. Also, I worked at National Foods when Roger worked there (about 1980, 1981). Roger was so friendly and he always had a smile for everyone. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

It was a happy day at Harold and Elena's home in Brownsville, when Roger showed up at the door in navy uniform, with his duffel bag, freshly discharged from his stint in the navy. Happy tears were shed by all at the return of my Uncle Roger from his honorable service to our country. God bless you Roger.

I have many fond memories of Roger. I was blessed to know him and will always remember his humbleness; his typical quiet, thoughtful demeanor and compassion; and his whole-hearted embrace of what was most important to him. Prayers for his family - children, grandchildren, siblings, in-laws and special friends who are grieving his loss while holding close to their hearts precious memories of who he was and will always be to them personally. Rest in peace, Roger.
