David Cram Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Denning Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Mar. 17, 2026.
David A. Cram, 94, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on March 15, 2026, with his family by his side. David was born on March 31, 1931, in Galesville, Wisconsin, the son of John and Nelly Bly (Cook) Cram.

David enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948. During his tour of duty, he met Rebeca Correa in Pelluco, Chile. The two later married and shared 73 wonderful years together. David proudly served his country in the Air Force for 28 years, including service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired in 1976 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, a rank he was extremely proud of achieving, as very few service members reach that level.

After retiring from the military, David and Rebeca relocated to Mt. Vernon, where David began his second career with MG Industries, eventually retiring from there as well. David was a member of St. Matthew's Church, a past member of the Elks, and a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.

Above all else, David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a tremendous supporter of his family and someone they could always count on.

David is survived by his wife, Rebeca; children, David (Lessa) Cram, Elizabeth (Robert) Wise, Cindy (Chuck) Polage, and Maureen (Donnie) Beste; grandchildren, Dana, Christopher, Jamie, Craig, Brett, Layna, Cameron, and Sheldon; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Avery Beste.

A private funeral mass will be held at a later date.
