Reuben began his career with Whirlpool Corporation and later worked with Agrico Chemical Company. His career brought him to
Albany, Georgia in 1979. In 1980, he purchased the well-known Taylor's Market, where he and his family welcomed a host of loyal patrons looking to find the best steaks in the area. Reuben owned and operated Taylor's Market for twenty-three years before his retirement.
After retiring, Reuben honed his talents as a renowned woodworker, crafting detailed pieces for his loved ones. He was also an avid deer hunter and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden. Reuben loved sports of all kinds, but he took special joy in attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren over the years. He was a dedicated Purdue fan, never lost faith the Boilermakers would win the NCAA men's basketball tournament, and was most often seen proudly wearing his Purdue hat.
