Roy 'Chuck' Bentzen

August 10, 1945 - October 14, 2024

Roy 'Chuck' Bentzen, 79, of Trempealeau, Wis., died on Monday, October 14, 2024, at home, surrounded by family. He was born in La Crosse, Wis., on August 10, 1945, to LeRoy and Rosemary (Gautsch) Bentzen. He married Monica Becker on August 12, 1967, in Blessed Sacrament Parish, La Crosse.

He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1963, then enlisted in the Navy where he was discharged in December of 1965. He went on to work as a surveyor for the State of Wisconsin and did several seasonal jobs until he started working for the La Crosse County Highway Department, where he retired as a Foreman in 2003. He enjoyed his family life, especially his grandchildren. He loved going to car shows, trips to Chetek and Laughlin, working on his Tonka Toy Restorations, and tinkering with anything he could.

He is survived by his wife, Monica of 57 years; son and daughter, Julie (Lee) Schindler and Anthony (Jessica Osgood) Bentzen; grandchildren, Eric, Emma, Samantha, Grace, and Payton. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark (Leanne), Dave (Stephanie), Sam (Tammy), and Lisa (John) Meyer, and nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his brother, Nicholas Bentzen; and his sister, Linda Bentzen.

A Memorial Mass will held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, in St. Bartholomew Parish, 11646 South St., Trempealeau, WI. Rev. Sebastian Saleth-Pitchai will officiate, with inurnment to follow in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Family and friends may visit from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at Church on Friday.

Memorials are preferred.
