I got lessons from Steve in the 1970's at Maple Grove. He was a good teacher. I was a good golfer when I started lessons with him, but I was much better after a summer of lessons with him. He asked me to change my grip, start wearing a golf glove, and also asked me to change my stance and my swing. I was hesitant at first, but over a few months I got a lot better because I listened to him. One of things that amazed me about him was that he would often stand on the side of me while I took a swing, and he always told me what kind of shot I had just hit, even without looking where the ball went! "A high fade." "You pulled it left" "You pushed it right." "A snap hook." He was right 99% of the time. I don't know how he did it. I got to play in several state golf tournaments because I got good enough to be on an excellent varsity team. I often think of him when I am golfing, and I now realize that I have been able to enjoy decades of golfing because of him. - Andrew Grzadzielewski

On behalf of the Wisconsin PGA, please accept our condolences for your loss. Steve's time as a 41+ year member of the PGA was valued by our association. His contributions to the game will always be remembered. I will inform the PGA of America so you do not have to. Love the old newspapers clippings from the high school days. Thanks for sharing, John K. Thoughts and prayers to the entire family.
