ALBERT MINETTE Obituary

JANUARY 26, 1957 - MAY 31, 2011 Beloved son, husband, father and brother, Al passed away suddenly at home. Preceded in death by father Robert and brother Bob. Al is survived by the love of his life, his wife Neile; his sons, A.J. and Bobby (Chas); his precious granddaughter, Lilyann June; mother, June; brothers, Skip (Karen), Paul (Debbie), Steve (Mindy) and Jimmy (Amy); sister, Roxanne; many nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Cynthia. Al was a driver for the City of Los Angeles Sanitation Dept. Prior to his employment with the city, Al was a driver for Allied Beverages in Sylmar for 28 years. Al enjoyed fishing with his boys, camping, watching Nascar rooting for the 48, spending time with his large family, and working on his '64 El Camino. Al's passion was always baseball. He played baseball for many years, retiring only after winning the MSBL World Series in 1997. Al coached hundreds of children through the years at Granada Hills Little League forming lifelong friendships with so many. And by the way, did he ever tell you--he hates umpires. Al was a treasured friend and neighbor to many and he leaves us too soon, it was a life well lived with love and passion. Godspeed my love. Visitation Friday, June 3, 2011, 5:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Utter McKinley San Fernando Mission Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, June 4, 2011, 12:00 noon, at St. Euphrasia Catholic Church. To Al's Family:

I only learned of your loss recently and just wanted to send my condolances. I met Al playing MSBL and loved his comtetive spirit. We both had the same passion for Fishing and saw him at the June Lake opener every year until we both decided to go the week after, he will be sorely missed by me and just ran into him at the Ojai Vally Inn not to long ago. Al was a great guy and a friend i will always remember and miss..

Neile,Bobby, and AJ,
Al was one of the relationships in the MSBL that I will always treasure. God has strengthened his pitching staff; and society has lost a great man.I am sorry we were unable to attend the service. The last time I saw Al he had won the MSBL Championship, fitting as I always thought of Al as a CHAMPION! Our sincerest condolences, Vic,Sandy, and Mike Puglisi.

I am so very sad for all of you; Al was a wonderful person, husband, father and friend to so many. You were all so good to Shannon and I when we were out there, seems like so very long ago. I wish I wasn't so far away. My love to all of you during this difficult time. Love Carole and Shannon, Sean and Randy too.

To the Minette family,

I also knew Al from the ballfield, and he is greatly missed. Adam Geery, Dennis Williams, Jeff Ahern, Tom Ahern and Tim Page all expressed sadness over the loss of a great man. Rod Patterson and I spoke of Al just minutes ago. He was a great, great guy...

To Neile and the family, I will miss Al's smile and sense of humor, and his passion for the game of baseball. One of my favorite people and players. My best to you all in this difficult time. My condolences,

I always remember Al with his ray bans on and a lit cigarette. We didn't talk much, but he always made sure to say hello, and always called me by name. Gone to soon my friend.
