Brian Corcoran Obituary

BRIAN PETER CORCORAN

Age 62, passed away far too soon on February 25, 2014 at Northridge Hospital after complications from the flu. He is survived by his beloved wife, Yvonne and his four children Brian II, Kathleen, William and Christy.

Brian Corcoran was born July 30, 1951 to William and Kathleen Corcoran, the sixth of eight children in a fiercely close Irish family. He graduated Cleveland High School's class of 1969 and went on to serve in the Army National Guard, then became a Los Angeles Unified School District Police Officer before he went on to become a distinguished Los Angeles County Sheriff's Detective where he served for thirty years before retiring.

The legacy that Brian leaves is immeasurable. A good man, outstanding brother and uncle, a wonderful husband, phenomenal father, and exemplary Sheriff. He touched the lives of so many and so many lives are richer for having known him.

Services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Shepherd Of The Hills Church in Porter Ranch with interment following immediately at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery In Mission Hills.

I attended Prairie St School with Brian 1962-1963. He was fun and very unpretentious during the short time I lived in Northridge. My best to his family.

Brian and I worked together in the jail. He was a great guy with a terrific sense of humor. I remember how much he loved Yvonne. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Yvonne and family,
I was just notified of Brian's passing by our mutual friend and LASD alum, Craig Truman; I'm sitting here still having trouble accepting this.
Teri and I send our sincerest condolences.
Indeed, you go through life meeting thousands of people but a very few stay with you forever. Brian was one such person.
His larger-than-life smile(always accented by his larger-than-life mustache)was right from central casting and it fit him and his personality perfectly.
Always quick to find humor in the most challenging situations, Brian was a solid man. And as much as we used to rib him about just about everything, the one thing he got absolutely perfect was choosing a spouse--and he readily agreed.
Yvonne, there are no words that can fill the void, but please know that all the lives that Brian touched will remember him fondly and keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers forever.

The entire Haliday family expresses our deepest condolences during your time of loss and our prayers for God's comfort. We love you all very much.
