Brian Levi Obituary

BRIAN HARRIS LEVI
February 26, 1954 - November 13, 2012

Born in Dallas, Texas on February 26, 1954, Brian Harris Levi entered eternity November 13, 2012. He lived a joyous life of music, fun and friends. Brian's legacy as a sound engineer led him from Texas to Santa Monica in the 1970's to pursue his dream of creating one of the best audio recording studios on earth... Clear Lake Audio, in North Hollywood.

More than 25 years ago, Brian literally built Clear Lake with his own hands; but most of all, with his heart. As one of the most talented recording engineers of all time, Brian's unparalleled ability to hear and produce GREAT music remains with us today in his many recordings including Dwight Yoakim's "Guitars and Cadillacs" - a Platinum album. Brian excelled in producing music and worked with the best musicians.

He loved his dogs including China, Chewy and Pee Wee. Brian also enjoyed model airplanes. It was Brian's final wish to provide the best music technology for sick children so he left everything to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Brian is predeceased by parents, Charles Levi Jr and Bernardine Levi.

A private celebration of his life will be February 10th, and a private burial at sea at Molokini, Maui, Hawaii, will be February 26th, his 59th birthday. Donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Brian Levi's name online at https://shop.stjude.org/GiftCatalog/donation.

I wad i produced to Brian via the school sessions sold by Jimmy Matola.
Brian was patient a day a great instructor that wanted you to learn but never pushed you past your comfort level.
Amazing that a person with a beautiful, well equipped studio opened it to students of the trade.

Those were the days, huh, Brian? Dobie dorm UT, then Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood. You racing over the canyon on your bike. You saved my life in the 80s when I got sick. I wish I had known . . . Julie, where are you?

We grew up in the same neighborhood in Dallas and were close friends. Brian was a great guy. So many cool memories growing up with him. He heard his calling early on and fulfilled his destiny to become a major, preeminent recording engineer. Sure miss you buddy! God bless you

Just learned of your passing, bro. Heard you were sick when I called a little over a year ago, left a message, but no call back. Thanks for many good memories over many days and nights in the studio. Rest in peace with God's blessings.

No snowflake ever falls in the wrong place. You always lived your life and pursued your passions on your own terms. You will be missed old friend. But we will see each other again.

Brian, I'm so glad we reconnected many years ago after being high school classmates. I loved our long phone conversations and dinners when you came to Dallas. Loved visiting with you and your wonderful Mom. I'm at peace knowing you are no longer in pain and with your mother once again. I'm so proud of you for your generous donation to St. Jude's Children's hospital, it just proves what a giving person you were. Goodbye for now, Kristin
