Cecil Gannon Obituary



CECIL WILLARD GANNON Aug. 25, 1923 - Dec. 28, 2009 Survived by wife JoAnne, daughter Karen Parrino of Dallas, OR, son Darren Gannon of Woodland Hills, daughter Cecilia (Charles) Spale of Chatsworth, two grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and sister Lillie Watson of Euless, TX. Cecil was born and raised in Seward, Nebraska. Served in the United States Navy from 1943 - 1946. He received American Area, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific, Good Conduct, and was honorably discharged. After moving to California in 1946, he worked for Western Airlines where he met his wife of 50 years. They moved to the San Fernando Valley, where they owned and operated several Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream stores, until 1999. Together, and with family, they enjoyed 30 years of cruising the oceans. Traveling to places like Mexico, Panama Canal, Alaska, Japan, Australia and Hawaii, with the most recent in 2008. Cecil passed away peacefully, where he wanted to be, in his Woodland Hills home of 37 years. Cecil was loved and will be missed every day. Service and burial at sea, will be June 12 - 13, 2010.
