Flerida Burdick Obituary

BURDICK Born on July 27, 1914 in Santiago De Cuba, Cuba. She was a teacher at the Home Economics School in Santiago de Cuba, and during the summers attended the University of Havana. She was graduated from the University in 1947 as a dietician and she went to work for a renowned research physician Martinez Anaya. Flerida met Sherman Burdick in C uba and they were married in California on April 9, 1949. They lived in Gardena, California until the summer of 1951, and then moved to Mexico City and stayed there until 1957, when they moved to Round Mountain, Nevada. In 1959 they moved back to California where Sherman built a house for the family in Northridge, California. In 1960 the family moved to Goa, India due to Sherman's work, and they lived there until 1962. In 1962 they returned to Northridge, California and Flerida lived in the house Sherman ha d built for her until her death on December 30, 2006. Flerida was a devoted wife and mother and a loyal and generous friend. Flerida is survived by four children, Mario, Henry, Flerida and Christine; as well as one beloved sister, Silvia; eight grandchildren, Sharon, Mamie, Sandra, Elena, Tina, Jeff, Katie and Jeff; and five great grandchildren. Her Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, January 5, 2007, at the San Fernando Mission Rey de Espana Church in Mission Hills, California .
