Francesca Cappucci Obituary

June 29, 1958 - March 30, 2023 Francesca Cappucci, who was 64 years old, peacefully passed away on March 30, 2023, after a brave nine-month battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her beloved sons, Ian, Will Fordyce, as well as close friends and family. Born on June 29, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, Francesca was the middle child of Beatriz and Vladimiro Cappucci. Her parents' unique love story began when her mother, a Los Angeles native, met her father while traveling in Italy. Vladimiro Cappucci, who arrived in the United States through Ellis Island on The SS Andrea Doria, captured Beatriz's heart, and they started a family together. Francesca's passion for music ignited at a young age, with Rock 'n' Roll being her favorite genre. Her extensive knowledge and love for the music industry led to her iconic role at KIQQ radio station in Los Angeles. She started in public affairs, making Public Service Announcements, and later teamed up with Jay Coffey for KIQQ's morning drive show. During her time on air, Los Angeles listeners fell in love with Francesca's voice and name, which were both steeped in beauty and melody. She then worked at Chanel 7 Eyewitness News for ten years, where she had the opportunity to interview legendary music icons such as Rod Stewart, David Bowie, and Michael Jackson. In addition to her impressive career, Francesca had a compassionate understanding of dogs and their communication, which blossomed into a caretaking role for dogs in her community. However, her most cherished role was that of a proud, dedicated, and loving mother to her sons, Ian and Will Fordyce. She tirelessly supported their talents, interests, and passions and produced two short films for her son Ian, who wrote and directed them. She also encouraged her son Will's skills in science, math, painting, and his current college career. Francesca is survived by her adoring sons Ian, aged 24, and Will, aged 19, her brother Rafael, sister Isabella, six nieces and nephews, and nine cousins. She will always be remembered and loved in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. May her soul rest in peace.

My last conversation with Francesca was on either twitter or IG, I told her how I remembered back at ABC7 Music Report in 88, where she interviewed NWA, and she was interviewing Ice Cube, and the look of concern or excitement she had, she was really focused on Cube and trying to figure out what the message was. She looked intimidated and in control of the interview at the same time, which made me an instant fan of hers. She will be missed. I appreciated music journalism because of her. May she rest in paradise.
