---- Farewell To Our Friend ---
A block from my office
I'm forced to respot,
Where flowers now mark
That once fateful spot.
So now every day
I see the white cross,
And feel the deep pain
Where a young life was lost.
Some flowers proclaimed
Our dear Jenny's fate,
But too soon they wilted
And withered away.
With each passing day
I sense the deep hurt,
Where tears often fall
From friends eyes to the dirt.
So why should it be
That the good ones die young,
Yet scoundrels keep climbing
Life's ladder rung by rung.
My memories are filled
With good times that we had,
But my mind often wanders
Down a path that feels sad.
Now all I can say
To our friend from the past,
Is "Farewell to Our Friend"
May your heaven be vast.
