Erlinda: I was saddened to read about Joe"s passing in the paper. Although I only met him a couple of times, he was such a nice person. I know we have not been in contact for some years, however working in the bank tends to keep people "together", even when they don't have much contact. My deepest condolences go out to you and your family.

My prayers go out the the entire Rivas family, immediate and extended. Joe was my Baptismal godfather. Yet, with life's obstacles I was not in touch with him as much as I would have liked to, Yet, Joe found time to attend my wedding, a touching memory that has been with me since. An outstanding individual has left us and yet he lives on in our hearts. May you find comfort in knowing that Joe was loved by many and will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the Rivas family. I had the pleasure and honor to be a campus supervisor with Joe at Buena High School. When I first started he took my under his wing and showed me the ropes. We had many great talks and he always made me laugh. I looked up to him as a father figure and really missed him when he retired. I was always so happy to see him when he came to visit us when he was home from the hospital. I enjoyed our talks when he would call from the hospital to let me know how he was doing. I will miss his warm smile and his caring heart. I will find comfort in knowing that he is in Heaven watching over everyone he loved. My thoughts and prayers are with Erlinda and the entire Rivas family. I feel so blessed to have known such and dear man and it is with much love and pride that I call him my friend.

Linda and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Joe was a wonderful man and heaven is blessed to have him up above as an angel. (As we all know there is no doubt that he has walked through the gates of heaven) I prayed for him from the moment I knew of his illness. I will now continue my prayers so that your family will have comfort at this time of sorrow.

A cousin who will always have fond memories of him,

To cousin Linda and family Rivas. The last time I saw Joe he impressed me with his strength and courage during his illness. Joe was preparing himself to see his Savior. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I remember Joe's words during his visit to Tucson: "When I die I will see my son Marky and my parents in Heaven. It will then be my turn to pray for my family still on earth." Rest in Peace Joe!
