JOHN MAX JASKIEWICZ

Born on February 16, 1942 to Dr. Casimir Francis Jaskiewicz and Mary Ann Lawicki Jaskiewicz in Logan, West Virginia. He was their second child with a big sister Mary Ann born two years earlier. John spent his early years between Logan, Buffalo, New York, Pittsburgh, California and finally moving to Santa Rosa, California with his Mom and Sis. John got his first job as a Newspaper Delivery Boy when he was 12 and earned all his spending money that way. He learned the lessons of saving first and that followed him all of his life. He was in the first class at the new Montgomery High School and he and his friends made the most of starting the schools traditions, naming mascots and school colors and just getting the best out of growing up in a relatively small town. After graduating he left Santa Rosa for Los Angeles where he graduated from UCLA in 1964. At UCLA he became a brother in the Sigma Nu Fraternity and lived in the house on campus. This experience was remarkable in that John not only had a wonderful time but added new friends that he had for life. He also grew to live the life of the code of the fraternity, The Way of Honor. That same year 1964, he married his girl Christina Thompson and they remained together in love and marriage and business for 47 years until his death. After receiving his MBA from UCLA in 1966 he joined the training program at Hughes Aircraft Company and stayed with the company for several years. In 1971 Frank Hintze invited John to join his Company, Aviation Power Supply, to become Corporate Secretary and Assistant to the President. He continued at APS until he and another employee, Steve Potter, decided to join forces in their own business. They purchased a small automotive aftermarket company called P.B.E. Warehouse, Inc. in October 1980. From one small building in Garden Grove, Ca. with a hand full of customers, they relocated to Downey, Ca. and built the company over the next 30 years into a major aftermarket distributor with branches in five states, doing business in the Western United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and recently in Asia. John and his wife have two children, Jennifer born in 1970 and Christopher John born in 1974. They resided in the same home in Encino from 1973 and that is where John passed away, with his wife and children by his side, on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. John loved to read, listen to music and play his classical guitar and loved to watch old Westerns and old war movies. John leaves his wife, Christy; his two children; his daughter-in-law, Jamie; grandson, Zachary John; and his sister, Mary Ann (Jack) Watson of Michigan. There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate John's life on Saturday, September 17 at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, at 9:30 a.m., in the Church of the Hills.
