Norman Collins Obituary

CHARLES COLLINS Norman passed away July 2, 2009, at his home, peacefully surrounded by family and friends, after a year long, courageous and hard fought battle due to complications from surgery, which resulted in kidney failure. Even on his worst days Norman found the strength to be with his family and never lost his sense of humor or love of life. Norman was born December 16, 1931 in Arizona to Althea and Harold Collins. Norman was the youngest of five children. He owned and operated Collins Lithographers and Printers in Hollywood, California, until his retirement in 1996. Norman was married to Francesca Collins for 50 years and had four children, Paul, Janey, Norma (Pat) and Joe (Lynette). He had seven grandchildren, Ariel, Jackie, Sooner, Sammie, Kelly, Hunter, and Sofia; two step-grandchildren, Mike and Carey; and two step-great grandchildren, Nathan and Emily. Norman proudly served his country in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He trained the Rangers for mountain climbing, skiing and survival. He climbed all seven of the tallest peaks in the lower 48. Norman received a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in 1955. His unconditional love and strength will be forever cherished by all. He will be greatly missed. "Dad (Papa), Thank you fo r all you have given us. We will all miss you and love you forever."
