My family lived next door to The Howell’s all of my life. We were raised there and my mom lived there for 42 years. Needless to say, we knew Bob and Gloria for many years. I have such fond memories of both of them. Bob was the sweetest most personable man I had ever met. With his quick wit and southern charm, he was so easy to be around. He was also very devoted in his faith and you could see it in him without ever saying a word. He lived it and it showed. He was always working in the yards and keeping them impeccable, not to mention all the repairs and fixings. He was quite the Jack of all Trades. If he didn’t know how to fix it he would figure out a way. After his heart attack in the 80’s he took to walking everyday without fail. And later on he joined Silver Sneakers, a senior class at the gym and would tell me hilarious stories of all the stretching and Zumba-Like moves they taught him. He was always happy with a smile on his face and always ready to go! He had this infectious laugh that we could hear outside whenever he was watching tv in the evening. It was so loud and hearty that it would make us laugh. He was quite a writer too! He wrote my mom the BEST Christmas cards every year. Mom kept them all. They were so well written and so detailed with his amazing humor. We always looked forward to his cards. I once asked him if he had notebooks of his writings and he said he did. I told him that one day he should write a book! He was so talented!!
He was also so kind to all of us and always took time to say hello. I loved his southern accent and his gentleman ways. He always courted Gloria like they were dating and doted on her and the girls! Then the grandkids came, and he was enamored with them. Bob and Gloria were the most beautiful couple I know.
In the summer of 2015, my mom put her house on the market but we didn’t anticipate it selling in 5 days. We were so busy preparing and moving that we kept thinking we would be back to say good-bye to The Howell’s, our beloved friends. Well after it was alL said and done, the time had gotten past us and we drove by a few months later, we saw that their house has sold. We have had such a heavy heart by not saying good bye. I had them on my mind just recently and thought maybe I could get Trisha or Libby’s last name to see if I could find them to ask about their parents. That is where I found this. My heart breaks for the family. I am so sorry I just saw this and feel terrible about not keeping in touch. I know how much they loved their family and how much they were loved. We loved them, as well. I will treasure all the memories always. May they both Rest In Peace with our Heavenly Father. God bless the girls and the whole family.
Sincerely,
Kim Wilson

To a stranger my grandpa may have appeared a quiet and ordinary man, but he was so complex. He felt deeply, even if he didn't always show it. He had an amazing sense of humor and he loved making us laugh. I will never forget his big bear hugs every time we came over. He impressed me with his devout faith. He and grandma would pray the rosary every day without fail. It was by his example of being a strong man, husband, and father that he showed us the way to follow God's will. I knew that if I ever asked him a tough faith question, he would give me a straight-forward answer. After I moved away, every time we talked, he didn't have to say much, just "I love you" and that said it all. I am who I am today because of his love and support. I cherish all the joyful memories I spent with him and I will carry him always in my heart.

My Father in law was such a great man. He was a perfectionist, very hard worker, very well organized. Had many great qualities. Most of all a very generous person. Despite the hardships in life he powered thru everything. He loved his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved to laugh, even when he was battling health issues. Survived a quintuple bypass in October of 2007. Survived a heart attack in early 1980's. Absolutely loved his sisters Patricia, Beverly, Mary Frances and brothers Dick,Paul and Larry. When my own Father passed in 2008 he asked ME if he could be my second Dad! Of course I told him yes in a heartbeat! I learned so much from him. His Irish wit and wisdom. Great story teller. It's so hard to move on without him and my mother in law around. They both will forever live on in my heart. Till we all meet again, may you both rest well with God's angels! All of my love and thanks so much for everything, Mark Andrew Paul.
