Robert Jordan Obituary

Robert Ray Jordan, tireless advocate for the American Veteran, passed away with his family at his side on August 19, 2010 in West Hills, CA. Bob was born Jan 2, 1940 in Ravenna, NE. Parents were Harold Jordan and Vivian Sigman. Bob grew up on the family farm, attended Nelson High School, and played on the football team. After high school he eventually joined the U.S. Army in February 1959. Bob and Renee Dousset were married in Le Pouliguen France on December 3, 1960. After duty in France, Bob was sent to Vietnam. On November 12, 1965, as squad leader of a combat team, Bob was shot multiple times. Bob was honorably discharged from the Army in June of 1966. He then started his long and successful career with the Disabled American Veterans. Bob's incredible dedication to helping veterans left everyone that knew him in awe. Over his 25+ year career he helped thousands of veterans. Bob's career path ultimately landed him in Chatsworth, CA in 1971. After his retirement, Bob continued to champion the cause for the fair and honorable treatment of our veterans. Most recently, Bob served on the board of DAV Chapter 5, and also served on the board for Disabled Veteran Charities. Bob was honored by the CrisCom Company as the 2008 recipient of the "LEADER for AMERICA" award in June of 2009. Bob enjoyed fine food and wine. He loved to fish, loved travel, and mostly loved socializing with his friends and family. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Renee Jordan; daughters, Viviane (Mark) Loy and Sylvian (Martin) Rambaud; brothers, Gary and Rick Jordan; sister, Marlene Shrontz; granddaughters, Dominique, Vanessa, and Madeleine Loy, and grandson, Ethan Rambaud. He was preceded in death by his son Clinton Ray Jordan. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans http://www.dav.org/donate/Default.aspx

Renee, Viviane and Sylvian I am so sorry to hear about your Husband and dad-Bob ! I have fond memories of him and your family when you all lived across the alley from us in Minneapolis. I remember our parents playing cards and having a good time together. Now we are all grown up! Both of my parents have passed and I miss them each and everyday. Take care and drop me a line if you get a chance! Sincerely, Ruth Lotzer/Goodman
