Although this note of remembrance is very late, I would like to experess my sincere gratitude to Dr. Thomas Osborn. I am beyond grateful for being a part of the CSUN Youth Orchestras under the baton of Thomas Osborn, as well as the Violin coaching of his wife, Joyce. My life and career as a studnet violinist was forevever changed by the experience, and their reference to others. This world has been a better place because of The Osborn Family, and I am honored that I was under their mentorship in my early teen years.

I want to thank the Osborn family for sharing Mr. Osborn with us.
I performed with the youth symphony in the 70's and realize now what a great experience it was. I was exposed to so many experiences that we took for granted as children, and only now can we fully appreciate the music, the friends, the discipline, and the self esteem that we gained from those experiences.
Thank you Dr. Thom.

While I only knew Tom all too briefly, having taught at Pepperdine for a year during his happy tenure there, I was impressed by his affable collegiality, his breadth of knowledge, and high level of musicianship. It was an honor then to be asked to take over for him following his passing, conducting the CWOTO concerts he was so commmitted to (giving emerging artists an opportunity to solo with a professional orchestra).
I gained an even deeper appreciation of Tom's human and musical qualities upon seeing the love and respect for him that eminated from the orchestral musicians whom he had worked with. Tom clearly lived a fully engaged life. He has touched many with his wit, craft and enthusiasm, and left us richer for knowing him.

Tom and I were fellow clarinetists and did our DMA work at the same time at USC. I will miss his professionalism and friendship dearly. My heatfelt condolences go out to his family.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of our beloved Dr. Osborn; but at the same time, my heart is joyful because I was so blessed to have known him. He was a wonderful educator, musician, and most of all -- a genuinely kind man. He was a truly bright spot in my life, and I will be forever grateful for his many personal kindnesses to me.
I enjoyed playing for him in the trumpet section at Pepperdine, and I have many fond memories of the wonderful concerts and musicals that we performed. I am most appreciative of the confidence he gave me as a player and in the support and encouragement he offered when I was decidng to pursue a career in education. My prayers are with Joyce, Carolyn and the rest of his family in this difficult time. I hope it it is some help to know how much he was loved by all and that Heaven is rejoicing with his arrival home.
