Mr. James I. Lewis, 94, of LaGrange, entered into Eternal Rest, Sunday, February 1, 2015 in LaGrange. James was born March 21, 1920 in LaGrange the son of Arnold S. Lewis and Lillian Smith Lewis. He served his country in WWII and was a survivor of the Normandy Beach Invasion. He was a member of the Civitan Club for many years, he also served as the youth minister and served on the board at Stonewall Church of God which is currently Clearview Chapel where he was a faithful member. James worked for LaGrange Banking Company and also worked for and retired from Dunson Mill. After retirement, he was self employed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Lanier Lewis;
son, Mark (Julie) Lewis; grandchildren Derek (Lisa) Lewis, Michael (Angie) Lewis; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lewis, Molly Lewis, Reese Lewis and by many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents,
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Clearview Chapel Church, 2101 South Davis Road, LaGrange. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, at the church with Rev. Charles Metcalf officiating. Memorials can be made to Clearview Chapel. Please join the family in honoring the life of Mr. James I.
